5 Simple and thoughtful ways to make your loved one feel special this Valentine's Day!

Valentine's Day can be a tough holiday for seniors who may have recently lost a spouse.  Help your loved ones feel remembered and appreciated with a thoughtful gift or activity this Valentine's Day month.  (hint: these would also be great Mother's Day/Father's Day ideas!)

1. Create a personalized photo album

 - Fill it with pictures of family members, special occasions, and cherished memories. Label each photo with a short description to help trigger memories.

2. Make a memory jar

- Start a memory jar where each family member writes down their favorite memories or things they love about the senior. Present the jar as a heartfelt gift.

3. Virtual family gathering

If visiting in person is challenging, organize a virtual family gathering through video calls. Share stories, play games, and express your love and appreciation for the senior family member.

4. Family book club

- Choose a book that both the family member and family members can read together. Schedule regular discussions to share thoughts and bond over the shared reading experience.

5.  Personalized playlist

- Create a playlist of the senior's favorite songs or songs that hold special meaning for the family. Play the music during a virtual visit or in person.
